Pegasus CBT Training Course

CBT Training

In 1990, the government introduced the CBT (compulsory basic training course) to reduce the number of incidents involving scooter and motorcyclists. The one day course equips you with the basic skills required to ride safely on our roads.

The CBT is not a test, it's a training course consisting of a number of theoretical and practical elements including a two hour instructor supervised road ride.

On sucessful completion of the course you will be issued with a DL196 certificate which entitles you to.

16 years old, you may ride a 50cc moped or scooter
17 years old or above, you may ride a 125cc motorcycle or scooter.

However the following restrictions apply:

You must display L plate's front and rear at all times
        No passengers
        No motorway use
A revalidation of your CBT certificate must be completed after two years unless you pass a practical motorcycle test
